Collecting and preserving genealogical records of Kern County since 1964

The Kern County Genealogical Society (KCGS) is located in the southern portion of California's Great Central Valley which serves as a diverse area and is noted for its mountain and desert vistas as well as the abundant agriculture and mineral resources. The society operates in Bakersfield, the county seat, and is housed in the
Beale Memorial Library at 701 Truxtun Avenue.

The purpose of KCGS is to:
1)  educate the general public and members of the society in all areas of genealogical research;
2)  establish, conduct and manage the genealogical library, and
3)  preserve, collect and disseminate genealogical data and family histories worldwide.
